Bancroft Safe Parking

This initiative is a comprehensive, two-phase project aimed at supporting individuals experiencing homelessness within San Diego County. The first phase involves the establishment of a safe parking site, designed to provide secure overnight parking facilities for those living in their vehicles. The second phase encompasses the development of a senior citizen oriented shelter, which will offer shared living spaces and essential services. Both phases will be implemented at a local community church, strategically chosen for its location and accessibility.

This project represents one of multiple sites throughout the county tasked with testing the strategies detailed in the Emergency Housing Implementation Plan of San Diego County. The plan aims to address immediate housing needs and facilitate longer-term solutions for homelessness. Additionally, the congregate shelter component of this project will adhere to specific programmatic requirements, ensuring that all services provided are effective, efficient, and tailored to the needs of the community.
