Design Challenge: Consider the architecture and design opportunities inherent in the under-utilized, one-level, masonry warehouse with steel columns and wood rafters without expanding or altering the structure.
Improve and reconfigure the workplace without disrupting the fully operational day-to-day client needs.
Integrate previously dislocated departments from disparate locations into a new workplace configuration reflective of the client’s creative process.

Design Relevance:  Architect and Fashion Designer infuse an attention to detail into their spatial and material considerations, communicating with the shared language of design.
Architecture can positively influence how employee teams collaborate in a workplace environment. Design a variety of private and public light-filled spaces for the inseparable acts of drawing, designing and producing.

Design Details: Translucent walls create intimacy and allow natural light to penetrate deep into the warehouse; Diffused glass skylights spread the natural light further and minimize the need for artificial lighting.
Strong horizontal datum at the working height enhances the proportion and muscular architecture of the existing warehouse.
Solid-core door desks provide generous work surfaces which transition from design to pattern making stations to creativity nuclei.
Ample and easily accessible storage is achieved through off-the-shelf products, yet seamlessly integrates into the architecture.
The durable, bright epoxy floor bounces light around and is highlighted by a runway-like stripe of Trina Turk’s signature brilliant yellow which guides one through the space.
